22 Women Set to Earn Global Beer Qualification Through IWCBD 2025

Following the overwhelming response to the 2025 International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) campaign, 22 participants have now been selected by WSET to receive a fully funded place on the WSET Level 1 Award in Beer course.

WSET - the global leader in drinks education - is an Education Partner for the 2025 IWCBD campaign and as part of this has fully funded the qualification for 18 participants. 71 Brewing has funded places for an additional 4 participants based in Scotland as their IWCBD charitable donation.

This exclusive IWCBD cohort will study WSET’s Level 1 Award in Beer - a globally recognised qualification that covers the foundations of beer—from production and styles, to service, food pairing, and tasting. The course will be delivered online and led by expert educators from WSET.

The online course will run from Monday, 19 May through Sunday, 15 June 2025, with the final exam scheduled for Tuesday, 17 June. Participants will benefit from a guided and interactive virtual learning environment alongside peers from across the IWCBD global community.

This initiative aligns with WSET's purpose of making drinks education more inclusive and accessible. As Education Partner for IWCBD 2025, WSET continues to champion professional development opportunities for women, supporting future careers in brewing, beer service, and leadership.

Rachel Auty, Founder of Women On Tap CIC and campaign lead for IWCBD 2025, shared her thoughts on the milestone:

“It’s hugely exciting to see this initiative come to life. The 22 women selected will gain real value from this course—not just the qualification, but the confidence, knowledge and connections it brings. I’m incredibly proud of what we’re achieving together with WSET.”

Natalya Watson, Advanced Cicerone®, Beer Sommelier and Certified Beer Educator at WSET, added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome this new cohort of women into the WSET learning community. The Level 1 Award in Beer is a fantastic foundation for anyone wanting to explore the world of beer, and we can’t wait to see what these 22 inspiring individuals go on to do next.”
